UEFA Euro 2016: 10 stadiums, 9 host cities, 9 airports
LONDON, 25 AUGUST 2015. Next summer the European Football Championship will take place in France; nine French airports will benefit from this tournament. The UEFA Euro 2016, the third most popular sporting event in the world, will begin on June 10 and ends on July 10 with the final at Stade de France. For France, the organization is a massive investment, though it can generate a substantial return. This particularly applies to the French airports, particularly the ones serving Paris, Lille Airport and Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport. These airports can count on many extra travellers in the summer of 2016. The three host cities in the northern part of France are accessible by car and train from the United Kingdom. The other six host cities are better accessible by plane.
* The stadiums in Lille, Lyon and Bordeaux are new, and specifically built for the European Football Championship 2016. For this reason they are also chosen as host city for one of the seven finals. The other four finals will be played in Paris (quarterfinal and final) and Marseille (quarterfinal and semi-final). The stadiums in Lille, Lyon and Bordeaux are at a relatively short distance from the nearest airports.
