Nowadays you can travel by train instead of the bus between the airport and the city, Helsinki Airport train station (Lentoasema) was opened to traffic in July 2015. The trains run in a loop to and from Helsinki. You can choose between the train that runs southwards through the east (P-train) and the train that runs southwards through the west (I-train). There is hardly any difference in travel times of these two trains: P-train takes 28 minutes to reach the main railway station of Helsinki, while travelling by I-train takes 32 minutes. Trains run about every 10 minutes. For a single trip you need a regional ticket of € 5.50 each. Tickets are available at Helsinki Airport train station (Lentoasema) from the VR ticket vending machines. Children from 7 up to 16 years get a discount and have to pay only € 2.80. A ticket is valid for 90 minutes on the entire network of HSL, which includes Helsinki, Vantaa, Espoo and Kauniainen.
